- Project HOPE started in 2001 in one of the regional Medical Centers and was supported with European Clubs of Delft (NL), Ringsted (Denmark), Region- 2 (twelve SI Clubs of Denmark ), SI Union of Belgium. Annette Kuyper, Soroptimist from the
Netherlands, was working several years very successfully as an art therapist on several
projects with psychiatric and mentally handicapped people in the Ukraine; initially by order of Geneva Initiative on psychiatry.
In proceeding of the project the sanitary room was completely repaired beginning of moving all the walls and finishing with the brand new equipment including the heat-boiler.
The next step was running the project of art-therapy for patients .The next goals were received. With the help of the paintinglessons, the psychological and medical treatment appeared to be more effective. Their institute became really the institute of the patients themselves, as they colored the walls with their own paintings, colored the furniture . Later the exhibitions of the works were organized by Soroptimist of Dnepropetrovsk in the citizen Art Museum and in the Science&Cultural House.
The publications about the project appeared in multimedia. Five articles were published in the local magazine ‘ Business time’. Two local TV channels spotlighted the events. Film (in English), leaflets (English , Russian) were developed by Club members and distributed.

- In 2006 Dnepropetrovsk Club started a new project:
- Help to the children of the citizen orphanage (95 persons) who have physical and (some of them) mentally handicaps (project “Hope-2”).
We regularly arrange holidays and parties for children’s birthdays. Students of citizen universities were involved in performing.
- With the financial help of the SI club of Ringsted we bought the modern trainer where two children can exercise together.

Club bought teaching CD-s showing different skills and handicrafts. In summer time Club bought and established big plastic swimming pool for the younger children.

- In 2007 our Dnepropetrovsk Club joined Soroptimists Go for Water Project because in Ukraine there are many problems connected with clean water supply.
The standards our country still use for cleaning water are very out of day. Water supplying system and pipes in Ukraine is also very old.
Our goal was: to give children knowledge about clean water importance; to give them possibility to use clean water for drinking and meal preparation.
Due to the unappreciated support of our FL Clubs of Delft (NL) and Ringsted ( Denmark) and also PEP of Soroptimists Go for Water
which connected us with clubs of (Germany) and (Austria) our Club was able to return the children of the orphanage one of the main Human Rights, the Right for Clean Water.
- Two big specialized filter systems were installed: in the kitchen and in a special room.
Women working in the orphanage also have now the access to clean water.
- Club also decided to repair the sanitary in the sauna complex of the orphanage.
The sauna room has a sauna cabin, a small water pool (2x2,5 sq m) and a shower cabin.
The water pool and a shower cabin were not connected to the water and canalization systems of the building.
- The work which was fulfilled included: drilling of a hole in the existing water pool to connect it with canalization system; tubes connection; recovering the pool with a new modern material; connecting tubes to the shower cabin and rectification of the drain hole.
- Now all the children can enjoy washing in the modern shower cabin in the sauna complex. Those of them who do not have contraindications can also attend a sauna and a small swimming pool.
- This project was nominated to the Best Public Award among seven other nominees and won the prize at the Water Congress in Amsterdam in July 2009.
